ferryd cannot connect to Docker
ferryd stops when it starts, because it cannot open the Docker socket.
What you see
Error: cannot connect to Docker — is the Docker daemon running?
Caused by:
docker error: cannot connect to the Docker daemon (unix:///var/run/docker.sock: …)The cause lists each socket that ferryd tried.
Why it occurs
Docker does not run.
1 / 3
ferryd talks to Docker through the Docker socket.
How to repair it
| Cause | Repair |
|---|---|
| Docker does not run | Start Docker. |
| The socket is in a different place | Set DOCKER_HOST to the correct socket. See Installation. |
| No permission (Linux) | Run ferryd as a user in the docker group. |
The full cause is unsupported DOCKER_HOST '…' (use unix://, tcp:// or http://). Your DOCKER_HOST uses ssh:// or another scheme that Ferry does not support. Ferry does not support TLS for this connection.
Use the Unix socket of the Docker daemon (unix://…), or a plain tcp:// address on the same machine.
