Services

A service is one app that Ferry builds and runs. Its type sets who can reach it.

A browser reaches a web service or a static site through the proxy.

A service is one app that Ferry builds and runs as one or more Docker containers.

Each service has a name, a type, a source, settings and environment variables. The name is unique. A deploy puts the code into the containers.

Create a service

Terminal

ferry create api --repo https://github.com/you/api --branch main

This command makes a web service from a git repository, then deploys it.

Inside Ferry

All of Ferry runs in one process, ferryd. Docker runs your apps on the same machine.

The type of a service tells Ferry if it has a port and who can reach it.
