Jobs & cron
A job runs one command in a new container, then stops. You start it, or a schedule starts it.
A run starts in two ways: you start it, or a schedule starts it.
1 / 4
A run is one container that runs one command, then stops. A run ends with one of three statuses: succeeded (exit code 0), failed or canceled.
The two kinds
| Kind | What starts a run | Example |
|---|---|---|
| One-off job | You, with ferry run, on a deployed service | A database migration |
| Cron job | Its schedule. A cron job is a type of service. | A command each day at 03:00 UTC |
Run a job
ferry run api --follow -- npm run migrate
