ferry login connects one terminal to a server. You approve the terminal in the dashboard.
ferry login sends a request to the server. The terminal shows a code.
Do it
Run the command
$ ferry login --server http://127.0.0.1:7878To connect this terminal, open this page and sign in: http://127.0.0.1:7878/cli-login?id=d54ce0ee… Approve the request there if it shows this code: MRDB-M7EEWaiting for the approval... (Ctrl-C to cancel)ferry login opens the page in your browser. With --no-browser, it only prints the URL. Then you open the URL.
Sign in to the dashboard
Sign in if the dashboard asks you. The page shows who asks: the user and the host of the terminal, for example ada@laptop. It also shows a code.
Compare the code, then click Approve
The code must be the same as in your terminal. Deny refuses the request.
Logged in to http://127.0.0.1:7878 (Ferry 0.1.0)
Saved to /home/you/.config/ferry/config.jsonFerry makes the token for this terminal. The token has the name of the terminal (ada@laptop). ferry login tests it, then saves it with the server URL.
The dashboard shows the token under Server → Account → API tokens. You can revoke it there.
- The server URL is the API address of
ferryd. The default ishttp://127.0.0.1:7878. - If you do not write
http://, Ferry adds it. - With no
--server, noFERRY_SERVERand no saved login, ferry loginuseshttp://127.0.0.1:7878. It tells you so. - The dashboard shows the command for its own address under Connect and on Server → Connections.
A request expires after 10 minutes. Run ferry login again.
The server needs its account first. On a new server, create the account with the link that ferryd printed. See Installation.
