The config file
ferry login saves the server URL and the token in one small file in your home folder.
config.json (mode 0600)
{
"server": "http://127.0.0.1:7878",
"token": "fy_3f9c…"
}ferry login writes the config file. Each next command reads the server and the token from it.
Where the file is
| Case | Path |
|---|---|
| Default | ~/.config/ferry/config.json |
XDG_CONFIG_HOME has an absolute path | $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/ferry/config.json |
Who can read it
The file contains a secret: the token. ferry login creates the file with the file mode 0600, and its folder with 0700.
Thus only your user can read the file.
One login
The file keeps one login. If you run ferry login again, the new login replaces the old one.
To use more than one server, see Choose a server.
