How ferryd finds Docker
ferryd connects to the Docker daemon through DOCKER_HOST, or through the default socket.
DOCKER_HOST. If you set this environment variable, ferryd uses its value.
1 / 3
The Docker daemon is the part of Docker that runs the containers. Builds run the docker CLI on the same daemon.
The forms of DOCKER_HOST
DOCKER_HOST form | Supported |
|---|---|
unix:///path/to/docker.sock | Yes |
tcp://host:port, http://host:port | Yes, plain TCP only |
TLS (DOCKER_TLS_VERIFY, DOCKER_CERT_PATH), ssh:// | No |
Use another Docker context
Before you start ferryd, give it the socket of that context.
export DOCKER_HOST=$(docker context inspect --format '{{.Endpoints.docker.Host}}')The daemon must be on the same machine
Ferry reaches your containers through the ports that they publish on 127.0.0.1. The daemon must run on the machine of ferryd, or forward these ports to it. Docker Desktop, Colima and OrbStack forward them.
