Restore on a new server

Put the data directory back, start ferryd with the same name prefix, deploy each service and load your dumps.

Copy your backup of the data directory to the new server.

Start ferryd with the same --name-prefix as the old server. This is the name prefix.

ferry deploy NAME

The built images are not part of a backup. For a service that you deployed from a local directory, use ferry up.

The datastores come back empty, with their old credentials. Load your dumps into them.

Back up your data

Ferry makes no backup for you. Three places hold your data, and each has its own method.

Upgrade Ferry

Replace the two binaries and restart the unit. Your containers continue to run during the restart.
