What you need

A Linux server with three open ports, Docker, git, a domain and the two Ferry programs.

The three ports that the internet must reach

Make sure that you have each item before you start.

The checklist

Item	Detail
A Linux server	A virtual machine is fine. It must have a public IP address.
Three open ports	Ports 22, 80 and 443 must be open to the internet. If the server has a firewall, open them there.
Docker	Docker Engine with its `docker` CLI and BuildKit. BuildKit is the default builder of current Docker versions.
`git`	Ferry runs `docker build` and `git` for the builds.
A domain	You must control its DNS. This guide uses `apps.example.com` for the apps.
`ferryd` and `ferry`	The two binaries. See Installation.

Build ferryd and ferry for the CPU architecture of the server. Build them with the dashboard embedded.

Production setup

Put Ferry on one Linux server that hosts your apps with HTTPS, starts at boot and keeps its API private.

Point the DNS at the server

One wildcard DNS record sends each app hostname to your server.
