1 / 4
An access token is the method for scripts. It is also the method for a GitHub or GitLab server where you cannot create an application.
What the token needs
| Provider | Token | It needs |
|---|---|---|
| GitHub | personal access token (classic) | the repo scope |
| GitHub | fine-grained personal access token | read access to Contents and Metadata of the repositories to deploy |
| GitLab | personal access token | the read_api and read_repository scopes |
Connect with a token
Open the dialog
Click Connect GitHub or Connect GitLab.
Choose the token method
Click Use an access token instead at the bottom of the dialog.
Create the token
Click Create a token on GitHub (or GitLab). The provider opens its token page. The page already has a name and the scopes.
Paste the token
Paste the token in the dialog. Click Connect GitHub (or GitLab).
When the token expires
A token expires. Then the deploys of private repositories fail until you click Replace token.
An authorization from the page of the provider renews itself.
