The first signal stops ferryd in order. The containers continue to run.

First signal. The first SIGINT or SIGTERM starts a graceful shutdown.

A graceful shutdown stops ferryd, not your apps. A signal starts it.

Stop the server

On the server

ferryd stop

ferryd stop sends SIGTERM. For a server in the foreground, press Ctrl+C: this sends SIGINT.

A second signal stops ferryd immediately. The exit code is 130.

The --take-over flag

--take-over gives a name prefix to another data directory. Use it only for a data directory that lost its instance_id.
