ArchitectureReconciler
What it never does
The reconciler changes only the containers of this server, never settings, volumes or other servers.
The five rules
- It never changes settings, variables or instance counts. It only makes Docker agree with them.
- It never starts an instance from something other than the snapshot of a live deploy.
- It never changes the limits of a container that runs.
- It never deletes a volume.
- It never touches the containers of another prefix. See the security model.
- The limits of a service change at its next deploy or restart.
- The limits of a datastore change in place, through
PATCH /api/v1/datastores/{id}(ferry db update). - One exception: a datastore that the reconciler provisions again gets its current limits. See Datastores.
Ferry removes the volume of a datastore only when you delete the datastore. It removes the disk of a service only when you delete the service.
