Connect from your machine
The external URL works on the server only. An SSH tunnel brings its port to your machine.
Ferry publishes one port of the datastore, on 127.0.0.1 of the server only.
1 / 3
On the server itself, use the external URL directly. From your machine, open an SSH tunnel first.
Get the external URL
ferry db show app-dbRead the line External URL. The number after 127.0.0.1: is the host port.
Open the tunnel
ssh -L 62975:127.0.0.1:62975 you@your-serverFerry chooses the external port one time, when it creates the datastore. The port changes only if a different process takes it while the container does not run. ferry db show always shows the current port.
--advertise-host changes the host that Ferry writes in the external URLs. It does not change where the port listens.
